You shouldn't put off going to the dentist because you think it will be too expensive, especially if you're covered by a dental insurance plan. If the cost is a concern for you, you may not realize that most insurance plans cover two checkups and cleanings each year. You may also be covered for basic services like fillings and root canals. Some plans even include coverage for dental implants or orthodontics. Check with your insurance provider to learn more about what your plan covers. If you don't have insurance at all, then consider the affordable options our office provides for individuals without insurance.

At Shepherd Dental, we accept most dental insurance plans. We also accept cash, checks, and major credit cards as a form of payment. If you have specific questions about your insurance coverage, feel free to contact our dental office to get more information!

At our dental practice, we provide preventive dentistry services that can help keep your teeth in good health. This includes cleanings and exams. We can also help patients prevent cavities and other oral health problems by helping them understand their risk factors. Our practice also takes several payment methods to help make dental care as accessible as we can. We accept cash, checks, major credit cards, and most PPO plans. If you have any questions about the services we provide at our practice, then please contact our office today! We look forward to helping you have a healthy smile.

We also work with all PPO dental providers to ensure quality dental care to patients easily. We ensure that our patients only need small copayments to get their dental treatments. A PPO, or preferred provider organization, is a network of dentists that contract with a specific insurance company to provide services to members at a discounted fee. PPOs encourage patients to use in-network dentists for services in order to receive their negotiated rate. This saves the patient money on their out-of-pocket expenses for the procedure. Some insurance policies do allow out-of-network reimbursement, but that usually requires higher out-of-pocket costs for the patient.

Many insurance companies are now moving toward plans that require using in-network providers only, which is driving more dental practices to join with insurance networks in order to provide services to their patients. With the number of benefits offered by some PPOs, it's becoming a popular choice for patients looking for dental insurance.

Our practice accepts most PPOs just as long as the patient has sufficient coverage to meet the proposed treatment fees. However, we do require payment at the time of service in order to file the claim on the patient's behalf. We keep patients up-to-date about their account balance and remaining benefits, so there are no surprises when their insurance processes the payment.

Here is a detail of what your dental plans cover, as every dental insurance plans have its limits. A 100-80-50 structure is followed by most dental insurance plans as per the type of treatment you need:

Preventive Care (100% Covered)  It covers 2-annual dental hygiene appointments, fluoride treatments, and sealants.

Basic Procedures (80% Covered) – It covers composite dental fillings, root canals, and tooth extractions.

Major Procedures (50% Covered) – It covers dental bridges, tooth crowns, and certain oral surgeries.

Orthodontics – It covers numerous full-coverage dental insurance plans like Delta Dental Insurance cover orthodontics.

However, dental insurance plans do not cover elective procedures like cosmetic dentistry and dental sedation. Ask about our in-house financing options for such procedures.

At Shepherd Dental, we also accept CareCredit healthcare credit cards that can be used to pay for out-of-pocket dental expenses. Patients who want to pay for their dental treatments over time with a low-interest credit card may be eligible for CareCredit financing from our office. This reduces the financial burden on uninsured patients who need extensive treatment. CareCredit offers a variety of finance options that allow you to easily budget for your treatment. With the card, you can finance the cost of your procedure or treatment plan through convenient monthly payments that fit your budget. Our dentist can help you determine if this payment option is right for you during your initial consultation at our practice. If you'd ever like to find out more about financing with us, call us. We'd be happy to help!

Since older patients do not have an employer offering dental benefits, the dental cost is a matter of concern. We accept dental insurance for seniors and offer other financing options to help them receive the essential dental work they need. We recommend you take dental insurance in retirement to make dental care affordable, no matter what.
